For calculating annual commuter cost

How It Works

The calculator uses published toll rates for each motorway, adjusted for vehicle class and time of day where applicable. It shows the one-way toll, return trip cost, weekly cost (based on your trips per week), and projected annual cost over 48 working weeks. Where toll caps apply (NSW), the capped weekly amount is shown for comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Sydney tolls cost per year?

A daily commuter using the M2 and Lane Cove Tunnel pays roughly $15-20 per day in tolls. Over 48 weeks, that's $3,600-$4,800 per year. Some Sydney commuters using multiple toll roads pay over $6,000 annually. The NSW government offers toll relief capping costs at $60/week for frequent users.

Is there a toll cap in Sydney?

Yes. The NSW Toll Relief program caps weekly toll spending at $60 for private vehicles with an e-tag. If your weekly tolls exceed $60, you receive a cashback for the excess. You need to register for the program through Service NSW.

What happens if I drive a toll road without an e-tag?

You'll receive a toll notice (video matching via number plate) with a processing fee of $10-$20 on top of the toll. You have a few days to pay. Repeated unpaid tolls lead to penalty notices from Revenue NSW, and fines escalate significantly.

Are Brisbane toll roads expensive?

Brisbane tolls are generally cheaper than Sydney. The Gateway Motorway costs about $4-5 per trip. Clem7 and Airport Link are $4-6. The Logan Motorway is $3-4. Annual costs for a daily Brisbane commuter using one toll road are typically $2,000-$3,000.
