How It Works
The calculator estimates CTP premiums using published rate ranges for each state. In states with private CTP markets (NSW), it uses average premium tables by vehicle type, driver age bracket, and risk postcode. In states where CTP is government-administered, it shows the levy component of registration. This is an estimate — actual premiums vary by insurer.

What is CTP insurance?
Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance covers injuries to other people caused by your vehicle. It's mandatory in all states. In NSW it's called a greenslip and purchased from private insurers. In QLD it's part of rego. In VIC it's part of the TAC levy included in rego.
How much does CTP cost in NSW?
NSW greenslips for a standard passenger car typically range from $400-$700 annually depending on your suburb, driver age, and insurer. Drivers under 25 and in western Sydney postcodes pay more. You can compare greenslip prices at the MAA (SIRA) greenslip comparison tool.
Can I choose my CTP insurer?
In NSW, you choose from private CTP insurers (AAMI, Allianz, GIO, NRMA, QBE, Youi). In QLD, SA, TAS, ACT, and NT, CTP is provided by a government scheme bundled with rego. In VIC, it's the Transport Accident Commission (TAC). In WA, ICWA is the sole insurer.
Is CTP the same as comprehensive car insurance?
No. CTP only covers injuries to other people. It does not cover damage to your car, their car, or property. You need separate third-party property and/or comprehensive insurance for those. CTP is compulsory; comprehensive is optional.
