Long Service Leave Calculator
Calculate your long service leave entitlement by state, years of service, and pay rate.
Your current ordinary weekly pay rate (used to calculate payout value)
How It Works
The calculator applies the selected state's long service leave legislation to determine your accrued entitlement. Each state specifies a number of weeks of leave per period of service (e.g. 8.6667 weeks after 10 years). The calculator converts this to hours based on your weekly hours, and to a dollar value using your current pay rate. Pro-rata entitlements for service between 7-10 years are shown where applicable.
Frequently Asked Questions
When do I become entitled to long service leave?
In most states, you're entitled to LSL after 10 years of continuous service with the same employer. In VIC and QLD, pro-rata access is available after 7 years if your employment ends. The ACT grants entitlement after 7 years. Exact rules vary by state and award.
How much long service leave do I get?
The standard entitlement is 8.6667 weeks (2 months) after 10 years in most states. This equates to roughly 0.8667 weeks per year of service. Some states and awards provide more generous entitlements — for example, the ACT provides 6.0667 days per year.
Is long service leave paid out on termination?
Yes, in most states. If you've completed the qualifying period (usually 7-10 years depending on state), untaken LSL must be paid out on termination regardless of the reason. Some states pay pro-rata after 5-7 years in certain termination scenarios.
Does LSL accrue during other leave?
Yes. Long service leave accrues during paid leave (annual leave, personal leave, parental leave on pay). It generally does not accrue during unpaid leave, although this can vary by award or agreement.
