Days Between Dates Calculator

Calculate the number of days, weeks, months, and business days between any two dates.

Used to exclude state-specific public holidays from business day count

How It Works

The calculator counts calendar days between the two dates, optionally including the end date. It then computes weeks and remaining days, approximate months, business days (excluding weekends), and optionally removes state-specific Australian public holidays from the business day count.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are business days calculated?

Business days exclude Saturdays and Sundays. When public holidays are also excluded, state-specific public holidays (which vary across Australian states) are removed from the count as well.

Why does the business day count matter?

Many Australian legal and financial deadlines are counted in business days — for example, cooling-off periods for property contracts (5 business days in QLD), notice periods, settlement timelines, and statutory response deadlines.

Do all states have the same public holidays?

No. All states share national public holidays (New Year's, Australia Day, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Queen's Birthday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day), but each state has additional unique holidays. For example, QLD has Royal Queensland Show (Brisbane only), VIC has Melbourne Cup Day (metro only).
